Company Profile
Capitol Bowl is owned by Trecha Enterprises, purchased Feb 13,2004.
Theresa and Margaret Trecha are the Proprietors. Tom and Diane Trecha are the
General Managers. The Trecha Family have been local residents for many
years. Margaret (Skriba) Trecha grew up in Owosso, living here her entire
life. Her husband, Tom, grew up in Swartz Creek, moving to Owosso when they
married in 1958. Their children, Theresa and Tom, attended Owosso schools,
and Tom began working at Capitol Bowl in his high school years. Diane (Busci)
Trecha also began working at the bowling alley, accepted full-time employment
after her graduation from Perry high school, and has worked there ever since.
There is much interest and commitment by your new owners to bring the
"hometown touch" back to Capitol Bowl, the way it was when The Hume's owned it
a few decades ago. On January 19, 2006, Capitol Bowl was struck by a
devastating electrical fire. The center was a total loss and
fortunately, no one was injured. On May 9, 2006, the Trecha Family
announced their plans to rebuild a state of the art 24-lane center on the
same site. The center re-opened on October 7,
2006 and hosted the 35th Annual Women's 600 Club Tournament which began that
weekend of Oct 7/8. All the staff of Capitol Bowl are very glad to be
back serving you
again! In June, 2008, Capitol Bowl's Putt Putt & Arcade opened.
The arcade is open the same hours as the bowling center AND the Putt Putt
golf course will be open during the summer season (May through August).
We are very proud of this additional investment and offering of fun
entertainment for our community!! Continuing to provide enhanced
offerings and service, the Trecha's partnered with the Matthies Family to
re-open Val's Pizzeria inside Capitol Bowl on August 28, 2009. Val's
House of Pizza (operated by Mr. Bill Matthies) was an Owosso institution
with great homemade pizza, subs, salads and Mexican fare from 1969 through
1997 (Bill sold the business in 1993). Dan Matthies ("son of Val")
wants to continue the family tradition! Our joint business venture
brings together the talent and determination of both families to offer our
regular customers and out-of-town guests great food while enjoying great
entertainment and fun with family and friends. Val's Pizzeria
offers dine-in (from lunch-time until close), carryout and delivery service.
